I tend to agree with you. I think the source is probably biased. It's sad that so many Americans are so ignorant about science. Europe has a much higher percentage of people who accept evolution. I'm from Italy and a Catholic. The Pope accepted evolution and so do all liberal and educated Christians that I've known. There's too much evidence to dispute it effectively. Only ignorant Protestant fundamentalists argue against it, and their arguments have no reason.
