If I sign a one year lease does it expire ne year from the date it was signed?

I signed a one year lease on an apartment on 06/07/2008. I umed that the rental agreement ended on 06/07/2009, but my landlord insists that it ends on 07/01/2009. There was not a specific section that stated the lease begins on this date and ends on this date. The portion of the lease that they are holding me to states "Said tenancy shall be on a lease basis with a monthl rental of $xxx.xx, payable in advance to owner on the first of each month, starting July 1, 2008." Later on in the douent under a different numbering bullet it states that "This lease is in effect for 1 years." I guess my question is, when does this lease legally end?
