Help with a crossword for a grade?

Alright so my little brother needs help with a crossword he's doing for social studies-I think it's for a big grade, but we can't figure it out. So, random brainiacs out there, can any of you come up with a ten letter word for "fought back"? The first letter is an "r" the sixth letter is an "i" and the eighth letter is an "r" as well. I also need another ten letter word that means "gathering". The first letter is an "e" the fifth letter is also an "e"the eighth letter is an "o"and the tenth letter is an "s". can y'all please help me? It would be useful.
